Hour of AI: AI unplugged

Designed especially for the Hour of AI, this lesson asks and answers the question ‘How does generative AI work’. Through several unplugged activities, students learn how generative AI works by generating content based on a users prompt and how it learns by analysing training data. The lesson is completely unplugged, meaning it does not require the use of any digital technology, and is an ideal introduction to how AI works. If students are interested in learning more about AI, the iRobot, Capes, Colours and Culture - Generating a new superhero or Help Luigi to be Brave workshop is an ideal follow on from this lesson.

This lesson is designed for students aged 9+ (although it could be adapted for younger children - suggestions on how to do this are included in the teacher guide).
