Gareth is our new Programme Communications Officer for Digital Schoolhouse.
Well hello there.
I’m Gareth and I am hugely excited about joining Digital Schoolhouse. I worked in schools for fifteen years so know all about the teaching life, how hard they work and how brilliant they are. I’m looking forward to being their point of contact at Ukie so look forward to me popping up in your inboxes from time to time.
I moved into communications at my previous job at a social media company and look forward to helping you deliver Digital Schoolhouse’s innovative and important work. I’ll also be in charge of the DSH socials so feel free to pop over to any of those to say hi.
My first gaming computer was a Commodore 64 (yes, I am that old...) and I still have fond memories of spending my birthday money on the Ghostbusters II game (which, looking back, was very bad, but I still enjoyed it anyway.) Since then, I have had Master Systems, Mega Drives, PCs, PlayStations and Xboxes and love games as much as I did back in the lounge aged 8 waiting for the striped loading screen of death to pass on the Commodore so I could play Dizzy.
When I left education, I wanted to follow my passion for games into the workplace and when the opportunity to join Ukie presented itself, especially as part of a school-based scheme, it felt too perfect to miss. I look forward to getting to know you all, and helping children learn the skills they will need in the digital future through play and fun!
