New College Swindon
New College Swindon is proud and excited to be a Digital School House (DSH). As a prominent education institution in the heart of Swindon we liaise directly with surrounding secondary schools to help learners make the right choice when they leave school. Having strong, established working relationships with our local schools we feel that becoming a DSH will help learners participate in these preliminary tasks before heading to New College Swindon. We will also to be opening our own secondary school in 2018 and are currently bidding for a new primary school, which will have a digital focus in September 2016. As a result, we believe becoming a DSH will help us be a leader in training teachers to upskill and become more creative in teaching the Computing curriculum.
With strong relationships with local and global employers we believe Computing should be innovative, creative, inspiring and challenging. A number of unplugged activities are used to make our learners Computational Thinkers and we also offer a number of hands on activities with VB, Scratch, HTML, CSS, JavaScript & App Inventor. Stretching and challenging learners is our priority with the aim of maximising learner potential and develop problem solving, cognitive and team building skills, thus enabling and encouraging learners to thrive and enjoy lessons. Becoming a Digital School House will allow New College to offer expertise in GCSE Computing, BTEC L2 / 3 in Creative Technologies, Games Development, MOS and anything else you can name will benefit learners in year 10/11 and KS3 curriculum and beyond.
