Benhurst Primary School part of LIFE Education Trust

We cannot wait to welcome pupils to our Digital Schoolhouse! At Benhurst, our innovative and inspiring use of technology is imbued throughout the school. Our passion and dedication in using technology to empower children, has for many years spread far beyond our school; with our pedagogical approaches impacting upon wider national and international communities. We are a SMART UK Exemplary School. Our Trust Computing Lead, Stella McCarthy, was part of the BETT Advisory Board from 2018 -2020 and leads the CAS Havering Primary Hub. At Bett 2020, she worked with the Local Authority to lead a session at BETT linked to teacher workload and how we use technology to support this. At Bett 2022 she presented on the Bett Academy Live Stage with CAS on the release of the Primary Subject Leaders Toolkit: Reflections from the Classroom. She also presented on the SMART stand on ‘The integrated approach to Social Emotional Learning’ and ‘Successfully supporting staff with implementation for maximum impact.’ Benhurst were shortlisted in the TES school awards for the category of Best use of Technology for two year running in 2019 and 2020. In 2018 we were SMART Exemplary School of the year. Alongside the difficulties and hardship that COVID brought to the community there also came a rebirth in the inspiration, motivation and dedication to the power of technology in deepening learning experiences.
Benhurst regularly welcomes local, national and international visitors; we are proud to have supported several schools to achieve their vision both before and during lockdown. In November 2021 at the request of the London Borough of Havering we welcomed a delegation of Headteachers from Denmark to look at Computing within the English National Curriculum.
