Global winners crowned by international audience in Mobo Game Jam final

The winners of the Mobo Game Jam, a global game making competition encouraging 8-18 year olds to design games imagining a future where everyone has access to clean water, have been announced.

The jam, which was created in partnership between Digital Schoolhouse, edu360, Into Games, Kucheza Gaming and WaterAid, encouraged young people from across the world to create prototype games digitally or on paper.

Over 1000 registrations from the UK and Nigeria were whittled down to 12 finalists, with submissions competing in a range of age groups in the final showcase on Monday 22 March, World Water Day!

And while every game in the final showcase shone, the following games emerged as the global winners from the public vote - which attracted over 1200 responses - within each of the following age groups:

👑 8-11 year olds – Mmesoma, for their game Water Allies

👑 12-14 year olds – Samuel, for their game Race to Water

👑 15-18 year olds – Obi, for their game Aqua

Winners will receive a series of prizes including a range of dedicated game laptops and Amazon vouchers.

“The range of games submitted to the Mobo Game Jam was outstanding,” said Shahneila Saaed, Head of Education for Ukie and Director of Digital Schoolhouse. “To see so many creative concepts tackling an issue of such importance flood in from around the world was genuinely inspiring and we’d like to thank everyone who took part.”

The theme of the Mobo Game Jam is also inspiring the theme this year’s Ukie Student Game jam, which takes place as usual during the London Games Festival.
