Esports competition commences across the UK
Returning for a second year and with much anticipation, the Digital Schoolhouse National Esports Tournament 2018 has finally kicked off!
Over 20 schools will go head-to-head in the immersive careers event, which aims to educate pupils in roles within esports and the wider games industry, as well as providing a pro experience for team players. One school will reign champion of this year’s tournament, but will they knock last year’s winners, Team Veracity (St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy), off the winners' podium?
Whilst Blizzard Entertainment is supporting the tournament in a number of ways, other partners include PlayStation and SEGA, plus support throughout from Belong by GAME, the world's largest esports company ESL, and the British Esports Association among others.
Pupils will be playing Blizzard Entertainment’s Overwatch as they compete for the trophy, all the while interacting with games industry experts to learn more about the wealth of careers available in the sector.
School-based regional heats will run until 1 March 2018, before the Regional Qualifiers from 6 - 31 March 2018 and the Grand Final event in April 2018, to coincide with the London Games Festival supported by Games London.
Bringing together education and industry, we aim to inspire up to 2000 students to engage with computing and the UK games industry.
