The Highgate Wood Digital Schoolhouse has for the past five months been working with their feeder schools on the Apps for Good programme. The Apps for Good programme involves pupils working as part of a team to devise an idea for a mobile application that solves a problem. The programme develops pupils business, enterprise, and ICT and computer science skills.

Highgate Wood School worked with three primary schools and out of the three, two school have a team that have reached the finals of the competition where they will travel to the Barbican in London to pitch their idea to leading tech industry experts in a dragon den style environment.

The two teams are: Team Oscar from Coleridge Primary School and Evolve Inc. from Weston Park Primary School. Team Oscar has developed the app idea called ‘Changes’ which helps children deal with information about puberty without the embarrassment. Evolve Inc.’s idea is called ‘Yum!’ which is an app that helps families learn more about food and making health choices together.

Good luck to both teams in the finals!
